How AI Is Used
AI tools may be used to assist with, among other things:

Analyzing and synthesizing large volumes of information or data

Preparing preliminary research or “first-cut” drafts of work product

Refining, organizing, or polishing attorney-generated work product
These tools are used to support legal work, NOT to replace legal judgment.
The Sweet Spot: Technology and Judgment
There is a deliberate and disciplined balance – the sweet spot – between technology and professional judgment.
All legal advice, conclusions, strategy, and advocacy are the product of independent professional judgment, experience, and accountability.
No AI tool controls legal advice, exercises professional discretion, or substitutes for attorney review.
Review, Supervision, and Professional Responsibility
All AI-assisted work is carefully reviewed, critically evaluated for accuracy and reliability, and finalized by our principal attorney, Isaac H. Winer. Factual assertions, legal authorities, citations, and other material generated or assisted by AI are independently verified as appropriate before being relied upon or communicated. We remain fully responsible for the accuracy, quality, and substance of all work product issued by our office.
AI outputs are managed consistent with applicable rules of professional responsibility and California law.
Confidentiality and Client Protection
Client confidentiality remains paramount. Where confidential, personally identifying, privileged, or other nonpublic client information is used with an AI system, we use tools and configurations designed to restrict access to the attorney and to authorized persons or service providers subject to obligations to protect confidentiality.
We do not use client information to train generally available AI models, and we take reasonable steps to understand and evaluate applicable provider terms, security practices, access controls, data-use practices, and retention policies.
Court Filings and Other Submissions
Where generative AI assists in preparing material submitted to a court, the firm complies with applicable disclosure, review, and citation-verification requirements and independently verifies the authorities and material assertions contained in the submission.
Client Benefit and Communication
Our approach to using AI allows clients to benefit from increased efficiency and responsiveness, while ensuring that judgment, strategy, and accountability remain where they belong – with the attorney. Where appropriate, we discuss the use of AI and other advanced technologies with clients so that they may understand how those tools are used in connection with their matters.
